Sirius/XM Merger FINALLY Approved.

Justice Dept Approves XM-Sirius Deal

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department has approved Sirius Satellite Radio’s $5 billion buyout of rival XM Satellite Radio.
The merger was approved despite opposition from consumer groups and an intense lobbying campaign by the land-based radio industry.
Regulators said the merger is not likely to substantially hurt competition or consumers

After well over a year of naggling and bickering, the US Government has finally okayed the merger of Sirius and XM.  What does this mean?  It means you’ll now get O&A and Stern on one service, as well as Baseball, Football, Nascar and more.  They’ve said they’ll offer a la carte packaging so you can decide what you want to listen to.

I doubt it will mean much to me at first, since I’m paid up with Sirius through the end of the year, but the times they are a changing, and change is coming steadfastly.

I for one can’t wait.
